SIng Opens short update~

Singapore Opens '05 have just ended yesterday, 18th Sept '05. In total, there were 9 teams that represnted Singapore and a total of 24 teams from all over Asia and Australia battling it out on the fields for the championship. 500 participants were recorded and it was the biggest Opens in Singapore.

Ignoring the HOT weather on Saturday, everyone was more interested in the game rather than the sun. Tight games, hard D's, fantastic hucks, tremendous layouts, the beautiful scores and not forgetting the upsets. People carmping thier way out was also sighted. Two Singapore teams had a perfect 4-0 score, naming Freakshow White and Shiok, our very own homegrown Singapore players. Freakshow Green had a 2-2 score, Discknights 3-1 and Punggol Hope 0-4. I've got no idea about the other teams, naming SMU Ultimate, Muddy Grass, Chuckies and Been there Done that. The biggest news was that someone from Huck Rebellion Blue(Manila) broke his neck while doing a layout. We wish him all the best and a speedy recovery!!

Come Sunday, the pouring rain and the sights of lightnings and thunders delayed the schedule for the day. After about an hour of delay, the day kicked off with a BANG!! WE witness lots of layouts in each and every field as the fields were nice to lay your *half-awake* body on it. There were already upsets in the first games. Soon after lunch, the sun woke up and made its way to the skies. The field was drying up but there were more layouts then Saturday. Come Finals between Freakshow Green and Shanghai Huwa, the crowd seems to root for the Shanghai players. Only the local teams were heard rooting for Freakshow. The game was teriffic with all the skills, speed and the tactics being thrown on the fields. Everyone was tired and it ended with Freakshow claiming the Championship. Kudos to them!!

On top of that, there was the award ceremony. Many awards were given out and one of the awards fell to our very own captain, Benjamin Ho. *Applauses to him* He was picked to be on the Dream-7 team. Kudos to him too. For now, we would like to thank the SG Ulty community for making this Opens a success. Let's hope that another Singapore team will win the next Opens, which will be held in Manila somewhere in November. Below is the result for the top 5 teams....

Freakshow Green wins the Open!
#2 Shanghai Huwa
#3 Manila Huck Rebellion Red
#4 Bankok SoiDawgs
#5 Freakshow White and Perth Sublime (tie)
