7 times IVP Champions and 8 times POL-ITE Champions
Final results...
NYP Left 11-7 ACJC
NYP Right 11-1 ACJC

The games were intense and the players were spirited. Great fun guys. And personally I'm very proud of some of our NYP players who displayed integrity and respected our opponents. That is why the ACJC players had a good time playing with us too.

As was mentioned by Ben during the sacred circle gathering, there is no limit to how much you can improve. I would like to add that no matter how slow or how fast you improve, to improve is totally your choice. I personally have experienced how not giving up on Ulty and trying even in small ways to improve in various areas will ALWAYS result in an overall improvement over time.

I think for most of our juniors, by now you realize how you cannot be complacent and not seek improvement. During the go-to drill, it is readily apparent that many of us need to brush up our short throw consistency. During the match, some of us felt KOed within a few minutes of game. Some dropped several easy to catch discs. Some of the seniors, including myself, found that our long throws and decision making are still not there yet.

Of course, I would not encourage us to feel horrible about every single drop we make. Ultimate will become a nitpicking exercise if we did that. I would highly encourage all of us, no matter what mistakes you made today, to remember the good you did and savour the feeling. A good burn and score, a good in cut, a good fake and pass, a good dump, even staying out of your teammates' way and not clogging while clearing out.

So ask yourself, how can you contribute even MORE to the team? How can you make the ratio of things to feel good about more than the mistakes you rather not make? After you answer these questions, do something about it. No matter how slow you learn and improve, it will be obvious if you want to.

For our fast learners, this is no time to rest on your laurels and sit back and watch others' struggle. Whether you try to encourage and help your weaker teammates improve will decide how strong a team we will be. Not pointing out their mistakes or how they can improve is not going to help them.

NYP Ultimate can be great. We did it before, we can do it again. We have what it takes. A good coach, dedicated seniors, a large pool of closely bonded juniors, wonderful facilities and some time left to IVP. It will take a conscious effort to turn that "can be great" into a "will".

Regards,
LTC

PS: Next week's optional pickup on tuesday is at the pitch. 6-9 pm. Those who can make it please bring shoes, white and dark top, and water. Good luck for exams.
